Installing Windows XP on HP Pavilion Slimline s7700n PC

September 16, 2007

HP Pavilion S7700N

I have been getting a lot of emails lately regarding Windows XP installation on HP Pavilion Slimline s7700n PC. I have been busy with different projects, and I no longer have easy access to the computer. Nevertheless, I’d like to help anyone interested in installing Windows XP on this computer.

I am going to list what Windows XP drivers that might work on this computer, please try them with caution. If it is successful, please leave me a note here.

Hope this helps, and please leave me a message, if any of the drivers work with Windows XP.

my slimline s7700n has a 64 bit processor and thus would only take xp 64bit edition, regular xp wouldn’t install at all, so after installing xp 64 bit i found none of the hardware had 64 bit drivers available. Apparently 32bit vista supports a 64 bit processor because that’s what it came with but it xp 32 bit doesn’t.

Actually it is the other way around. 64-bit processors are 32-bit compatible. It is a little bit weird that you can’t install Windows XP on your s7700n. Remember that you need to use a Windows XP with SP2 install disc.

every time i try to use your link (i am on a different computer than I am reinstalling os on) nvidiot autofills the d&mn fields with info from THIS machine.
I have NO idea what exact driver I need so next time could you simply include the NAMES of the driver/packages so I can find them instead of Nvidiot finding the internet connection machine instead?

It is easy to find it on nVidia site. I’ve updated the link.

I have a 64-bit processor, and the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver does not work for me? It says it requires a 32-bit processor, and that my system does not “meet its requirements”. Is it supposed to be that way? If yes, then do you know where I could install the driver for 64-bit?

      What OS did you install?
      Windows XP 32-bit or 64-bit?
Or is it a different OS?
