I just saw this a minute ago in the feed from Om Malik:
Breaking: Letter from Steve Jobs
As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.
It seems that Apple do have a succession plan.
Ste Jobs would remain as Apple employee and serve on the board as Chairman.
Apple has yet to make any announcements,
