We delivered our version of the show to Comedy Central and they made a determination to alter the episode. It wasn’t some meta-joke on our part. Comedy Central added the bleeps. In fact, Kyle’s customary final speech was about intimidation and fear. It didn’t mention Muhammad at all but it got bleeped too.

According to South Park Studios, Comedy Central deliberately bleeped out all mentions of Muhammad from the “201” Episode. In addition to that Comedy Central prohibits South Park Studios from streaming “201” original version that lacks of the audio bleeps. South Park Studios promises to post a version of the episode as soon as possible per Comedy Central approval.
“201” is the second part of a two parter, following the 200th Episode aptly titled “200” which aired a week before. In “200” the mention of the name Muhammad was not bleeped out.
Comedy Central is certainly picking their battle carefully, but not necessarily wisely. Buddha was seen sniffing Cocaine in “200” and “201” while Jesus was said to be viewing Internet porn in the 201st Episode.

Before i knew the people at Comedy Central were the ones who censored everything (I thought Matt & Trey censored everything to be funny) I actually thought it was pretty funny. It seemed like they were trying to say Mohamed more times than they needed to just so they could censor it(like in the Margaritaville episode where the salesman said words that ended in -able just so they could mispronounce them). How many times have people from all walks of life, religion race or creed been offended by the show’s sense of humor? By acting so inconsistently and allowing other religious leaders to be mocked you are not only showing great disrespect in choosing Mohammed as a special leader who is above criticism but also showing that threats against freedom must be given into. If members of other world religions have learned anything from your message it is that violence and threats are the way to achieving censorship at the detriment of freedom. That being said, I believe Comedy Central, as a broadcasting company, has the responsibility of leading the general mindset of this nation. Comedy Central, I am thoroughly disappointed with your decision to censor so much of the 201st South Park Episode. You aired Buddha snorting cocaine, Jesus watching internet porn, and consistently air offensive jokes about Judaism via South Park’s Eric Cartman. The entire point of South Park is to make light of serious issues while making fun of every race, religion, and stereotype. It has entertained millions of people and made your progam millions of dollars for years in that exact way. By not only censoring Muhammad’s name being spoken, but by censoring the Kyles entire speech at the conclusion of the show, you bit the hand that made you millions, and slaughtered the entire purpose of making the episode of the first place. Are you saying that it’s okay to poke fun at other religions, but not Islam? Are they suddenly exempt because a few extremists in another country make violent threats?
I will say that I see where you’re coming from, in the sense that recent events have proved that these threats are not always false. As I’m sure you know, and as I’m sure influenced your decision, a cartoonist in Denmark was attacked because of his depiction of Muhammad. I can see that although Matt Stone and Trey Parker created the episode, you were under no obligation to air it in its original form if you saw that it could instigate violence from offended viewers.
Although I see the sense in your concern for the safety of others at Comedy Central and at South Park Studios, your decision has sent a blaring message to viewers in America and to the extremist Muslims around the world: You are going to allow a few angry Muslims, who do not even represent much of what the true religion and Muslim people stand for, to dictate the way you air your shows. Just as all religions should be allowed to exist somewhere in the world, in America, where we should be able to speak freely, it should be Matt and Trey’s right to mock all religions. They aren’t trying to make a huge political statement; they’re trying to find the humor in ALL religions, races and creeds. The only thing, it seems to me, that stopped you from letting the original episode play was fear.
You allowed yourselves to become intimidated by pathetic, brainwashed extremists, who believe that unless you follow their exact beliefs and principles, you don’t deserve to exist. Yes, there is potential danger in airing the original episode, and you weren’t completely unreasonable in doing what you did. In the process, however, you have lost all of my respect. A better network would have aired the original episode, not because they would have been fearless, but because they would have known it was the right thing to do, to defend America’s right to mock anyone and everyone that walks this Earth. Maybe it’s a silly quality to defend, but god dammit, isn’t that what makes us a “free country” as well as an entertaining one?

Im in the Army and I feel that comedy central just helped destroy everything I work so hard to protect. If we really are going to keep terrorism under control then we have to not do what gives them power… be terrified… Believe it or not the little things like this matter, It shows that civilians don’t have the conviction to stand behind their beliefs. Why is nobody thinking the obvious: that Comedy Central is doing this to drum up interest in South Park? Sure, they perhaps ruined an episode, but in turn they have South Park on the Yahoo! main page for three days running. People are talking about it, about censorship, about the threatening web messages etc. I bet South Park gets a ratings boost for the next new episode.
And when they do release the “uncensored” version, how many more DVD’s will they sell?
Call it greedy, call it corrupt or call it being scared, I call it economic genius. (too bad they don’t apply that genius to the shows which air after South Park: that first person show was awful, and I can’t help but fall asleep to Dirty Americans).
Since the DVD is already out and it contains the same heavily censored version, we can safely say that it is not going the way you thought it was.

I want to say that Comedy Centrals “censoring” of South Park, Season 14, episode 2, entitled “201,” was, first and foremost, Unamerican! In case you at Comedy Central Do not know, The First Amendment to the United States Constitution provides this country, and its residents, the right of free speech, establishment of religion, and free exercise of religion. Nowhere in that amendment, does it provide for the entirety of the population to fulfill the rules and laws of any one particular religion. In fact, by censoring the work of Mr. Parker and Mr. Stone, and giving in to the demands of weak willed, anti-american value, terrorists, it provides a breach of the first amendment by forcing the Islamic religion’s values upon all of your viewers.
Before you disregard this letter because I used the word “terrorist” in this case, I use this because of the Revolution Muslim’s blatant threat to Parker and Stone. Sure, it says “this is not a threat,” but, anyone with a brain can see that it, without any doubt at all, is, in fact, a threat. Censoring an episode that has to do with one particular religions “prophet” is not only reprehensible, but irresponsible as well! It is irresponsible in showing a “favoritism” of sorts to a specific religion, in censoring items, people, or deities pertaining to one religion, and allowing others, such as Jesus, Joseph Smith, Krishna, Lao Tsu, and, most of all Buddha doing cocaine, to be seen, and equally poked fun at.
Any, and all terroristic or death/harm threats levied to Comedy Central, and/or Parker and Stone, should be reported to the Department of Homeland Security immediately, not catered to by violating an Amendment to the United States Constitution.
I do realize, however, that Comedy Central as a Television channel, you have to look to Standards and Practices, as well as the FCC, however, I will provide a quote, directly from the website of the FCC itself.
“There is no federal law or regulation that gives the FCC the authority to prohibit radio and television stations from presenting religious programs. Actually, the Communications Act (the law that established the FCC and defines its authority) prohibits the FCC from censoring broadcast material and interfering with freedom of speech in broadcasting.”
The Depiction of Muhammad is prohibited from depiction by Muslims and it’s followers. Perhaps in another country, the Islamic beliefs and traditions prohibit anyone else to do so, however, as stated previously, the First Amendment to the United States Constitution provides freedom of religion, meaning, In the United States of America, only Muslims are required to follow this religious tenet, not the entirety of the nation. It further provides for Anti-Americanism to “assume” or “force” everyone else to abide by one specific religion. Using any form of “religious tolerance” reply to this letter, would, in fact, be a hypocritical statement, as, the people who force this tenet on the entirety of the nation, are violating religious tolerance as well. Also, if the depiction of Muhammed is not allowed to be shown, then why is there a sculpure of Muhammed on the North Wall Frieze of the United States Supreme Court building? Yes it has caused controversy itself, however, has not been removed.
Therefore, in summation, Comedy Central was pressured by no federal, local, or state government agency to censor this episode, and can only be seen as having done so out of fear of a terrorist threat from a group of insecure religious fanatics, that in no way, represent the feelings and beliefs of the entirety of the Islamic Community.
Comedy Central, having taken this action, and violating the rights of it’s viewers, and catering to terroristic demands, not practicing “Religious tolerance” or anything of the sort. Therefore I shall be posting this message on any and all Comedy Central, or South Park related sites, to gain support in reccomending that Comedy central issue an apology for violating the First Amendmant rights of its viewers, and Air the uncensored episode.

Technically freedom of speech is not the point, the network is privately owned and at no point has “Congress abridged the right to free speech” Comedy Central have the final say in what is shown and that is that. If Congress had invoked a law to prevent this from being shown, then we’d have a first amendment violation.
However the point of capiutulation and giving into terrorism is the real issue, Comedy Central have shown they are willing to give into fear and intimidation which is their absolute right, but not something that I think the population of the USA would agree with nor do themselves.
